"Singapore's need for a stable government is far greater than
the other factors of good governance". How far do you agree?
in order for singapore to be a prosperous nation, it must learn to be
independant and strong. there are 3 factors in which singapore must
excel in, for it to be a respected nation. These are, stable govenment,
sovereignty, and maintaining people's needs.
A stable gov is an absolute neccessity for Singapore. Without stability,
singapore will not be able to prosper economically, due to the reluctance
of many companies to set up business in such a risky country. This will in
turn lead to financial difficulties in singapore. stability is therefore important
in this aspect. also, a stable gov means that policies and programmes can be
carried out safely, without any obstacles such as a lack of money deterring
them. Therefore, with a stable government, singapore can achieve high
economical growth and great reputation as a strong state.
maintaining sovereignty:
needed to prevent war from happening
friendship with countries can potentially help boost economical growth
co-operation with other countries can be advantageous in times of tumoil,
whether in singapore itself or with other countries
maintaining ppl's needs
-important as a lack of care may anger citizens, leading them to turn
against the state.
-education so as to cultivate a more intelligent future, impt for s'pore's
growth in the future
-provide employment as it grants an increase of economical strength.
it also helps make the state gain the reputation as a prosperous state
On the whole, i believe that a stable government would thus
bring out the factors of good governance, which includes sovereignty,
maintaining peoples needs and also social cohesion and national identity.
Only with a stable government and efficient leaders in it, would only
bring sovereignty and be able to maintain people's needs, comes
along social cohesion and national identity to its people.
only thus, would the nation be considered prosperous.
Thus, in conclusion, a stable government is far more crucial for the
development of s'pore.

"The Treaty of Versailes was fair"?
How far do you agree with the statement?
During the World War I, the Allied Powers, majorly France, suffered
economically and also in other areas. America sold their resources
to the Allied Powers, and after which, the Allied Powers had difficulty
in paying up, thus saddled with debts. France who fought at the front line
suffered severe casualties and in which is amenities and infrastructure
was heavily damage and destroyed. Production was impossible
during and after the war. Its trade was also disrupted.
A sum of money had to come from some where in order for the Allied
Powers, such as France, to recover from such a heavy blow on them
due to the war. As post war would bring even greater issues if not
settled properly.
For Germany, who was made to shoulder all the blame for the
cause of the war, as stated in the War Guilt Clause of the treaty,
also suffered similar problems of their own. The amount that was
requested of them to pay as reparation was large and is definitely
unfair for them. That huge sum of payment would cause them to
be poor for several generations and thus bring hardship to its
people. They had before that, also suffered heavily due to the war
just like France, and now, to be made to pay for the reparations
or compensation fee of 6 600 million Euros.
A need for measures to be taken so as to prevent Germany
from starting another war came. As the possibility for them to
start another war was highly possible. Measures stated in the treaty
were made to act as a form of detterence to prevent it from happening.
Germany was made to limit its navy and army strenght, all is
supposedly to lossen its war strenght so that it would be highly
difficult for it to start a war with such small navy and army.
To the people of Germany, they found it otherwise.
They felt it was severely harsh on them and it is insulting
and thus brings humilation to its people. They had to lose their
territotial intergrity and its land are divided and its people are
seperated. Resources, colonies and trading fleet were lost.
They are also prevented from exceeding a limit of navy forces and
land forces. Such measures taken by the Allied Powers, which was deemed
to deter Germany from starting another war, would cause it to be weak
against possible external attacks, making it very much vunerable to such situations.
Its basic means of industrial production was stripped off and thus lowering
its chances of economic recovery.
On the general, i felt that it was not fair that the new government
had to be blame and carry the responsibility of the previous government.
The new government should not be blamed for what Kaiser had done,
as they had no say in the actions of Kaiser. What the Allied Powers had done
was to dictate peace over them and had also provoke fresh hatred
of the Germans towards the Allied Powers. It is unlikely that peace would last
and that was something that the Allied Powers might not have foresee.
There was no doubt that money had to be gotten out of them
so that the Allied Powers can use for reparations, that the sum
they have requested was to large for Germany. Being blame totally
for the cause of the war was too much.

ChemistryChapter 2.5Collecting Gases and Measuring Volume of Gasesdisplacement of water is suitable for
collecting gasesthat are soluble in water. Carbon dioxide, hydrogen, or oxygen
can be collected by this method.
downward delivery should be used to
collect gasesthat are soluble in water and denser than air,
such as chlorine and hydrogen chloride.
upward delivery should be used to
collect gasesthat are soluble in water and less dense that air,
such as ammonia.
How to collect a dry sample of gas?drying agent, conc sulphric acid, quicklime (calcium oxide)
and fused calcium chloride.
Conc. sulphuric acid is used to dry most gases
including chlorine and hydrogen chloride.
However, it can not be used to dry ammonia
because it reacts with ammonia.
things to take note of:
tube introducing the gas is
immersed in the acid while the exiting tube is not.
Chapter 9 The Mole1 mole = 6.02 * 10^23
Mole = Mass / relative atomic mass or relative molecular mass
Molar Mass = Mole * relative atomic mass or relative molecular mass
Molar Vol. (gas) = 24dm³

Inertia of an object refers to the
releuctance of the object
to change its
state of rest or motion.
Density of a substance is defined as its
mass per unit volume.
SI unit is : kg/m³
Chapter 12 LightLaws of ReflectionFirst Law of Reflection:
The incident ray, reflected ray and the normal to the reflecting surfaceall lie in the same plane.Second Law of Reflection:
The angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.
(i.e i = r )Laws of Refraction1. The incident ray, the normal and the refracted ray all lie in the same plane.
2. For two particular media, the ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence
to the sine of the angle of refraction is a constant

i / sin
